Hacky No Code Bot, Lacking Sleep, Roundtable
Second No Code app I've built in <1 month! What power!
đ What went well: Built a hacky No Code bot!
This Saturday, I built a hacky "bot" using IFTTT + Google Sheets + Telegram.
For context: since start of COVID, my cousin initiated that our family (nuclear + cousins + aunts + uncles) use Viber (cause that's where all PH adults go!) to keep each other accountable with workouts.
We send our workouts. He summarizes & gamifies the experience with badges depending on each person's achievements. It's genius! And tedious! So we're automating it.
Iâm writing something more extensive, but the idea is simply:
Family members send a specific message to our Telegram group (e.g. /ifttt #workout [date], [activity], [# km])
IFTTT connects Telegram to Google Sheets and sends this message
We play around with the raw data on Google Sheets, and figure out if someone gets a badge
When a cell changes, IFTTT sends the cellâs value back to Telegram with a summary of everyoneâs # of kmâs run / biked + badges
đ What could be better: Lacking Sleep!!!
Woke up in the middle of many nights in the past week. Some because of external factors (we live near a fire departmentâŠ), some because I was thinking about work (still in the midst of the big launch). Nick experienced similar nights this past week, too.
Tips for better sleep?
đ Whatâs up next: Prepping for a Passion Economy roundtable
As part of On Deck, we have âcommunity sessionsâ hosted by fellows - they can be about a fellowâs field of expertise, a workout or a roundtable discussion.
I keep talking about the Passion Economy and, lucky for me, the woman who coined the term is part of On Deck - Li Jin. I reached out to her last week asking if she wanted to join a community session I was hosting and she said YES!
Iâm prepping for a session soon (hopefully in the next 2 weeks) & canât wait :)
đ Nudges of the Week
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel & Monk - going on a Tony Shalhoub binge! Highly recommend these comedies.
